What's happening in your garden today?

I'm weedeating everywhere the mower can't get to. Since this is the first day in two weeks that there's been enough breeze to dry the grass off enough to do anything with it, I'm taking advantage. Looks like rain again though.

We have good weather here for the moment but apart from mowing the lawn yesterday I've achieved nothing outside this week. I moved house six weeks ago and have spent four days shopping this week for things that are needed. :(

pulled a few sunchokes. have more to pull in next several weeks.
Canned 18 pints of crushed tomatoes
dehydrated 10 lbs of toms
cut 16 lbs of jalapenos to be ready to put into dehydrator tomorrow. will turn it into a dust
turned 3 compost piles
took last swim in pool for the year and then dried off in the late summer sun. goodbye summer see you next year.

Having sold the log shed below, I'm now re-organising the area.

Having removed all the gravel I intend to extend the bed and leave the area rough beside the Euonymus at the bottom of the picture, for a small composter.

Tomorrow I will pick up some more edging slabs and topsoil to finish off and then re-lay the rest of the gravel.

I've put some plants in the ground in another bed that I brought with me from my last garden. Also potted up two dozen daffodil bulbs that were a gift. I'll plant them in the garden after flowering next year, as I don't know yet whether there's any bulbs already there.

In preparation for the Hurricane due to hit tomorrow I cut back and tied up my Ce'cile Brunner rose that I've started training to the East side of my potting shed. The last hurricane in August broke off and cracked a lot of the canes so, I decided it'd be better to prune it back a bit too early than let the hurricane break more of it to pieces.

Picked up all my cutting in pots on the north side of the house and moved them inside, along with Cousin it and Yellow legs, my two Cacti sitting outside in pots.

That looks like an eleagnus limelight there by the wall?? If it is, you'll have some lovely scent there for the winter.
