We had a couple of very welcome showers today. I was so intent on lopping and chopping through the brambles and ivy in the front garden I didn't really notice the rain. When I straightened up, I realised it was quite heavy stuff, and my back was soaked through to the skin.

Yes, I was hoping that someone here had shared personnal info with her, specifically a phone number, and had heard from her. Very sad to see footage of this storm...everything else seems insignificant right now

@Jersey Devil I have been checking the power outage map for Annie's area around Quitman, and the forecast is that the power should be back on by October 5th. They had a bad time of it!

New Pioneer Woman here. My house survived!! The house shook for 7 hours straight!! 9:30pm-4:30am. Nobody slept. Sounded like shovels full of pebbles hitting the house and banshees screaming .my yard was completely impassable. Took me 2 hours to get the big branches out of my drive, but the car is ok, just a couple scrapes and dents.The roads were impassable until late Saturday night. No electric, no internet, no refrigerator, no stores or gas stations open. Cell towers down.
Today I drove for six hours getting supplies, gas and charging my phone. Cell towers were up again but it’s projected it may be after October 5 before we get power back.
AND… there is another storm forming in the tropics that is projected to hit fl and might even come the same path as Helene!!

Why not? The last three all came through here, why change a good thing!!

Anyway, thank you @Tetters and @Jersey Devil and all the rest of you for your concern !! Much appreciated!!

I think I may take up candle making as there isn’t much to do or see after dark around here unless I want to take up stargazing, that is

Thank God you are ok Annie, and thank God you still have your roof. What a relief - it's time to get some sleep here, and I was just about to go to bed. This news was good. I really hope the next howler misses you. You must try to use the hours of darkness to sleep more - only a few more days to get the power back. G'night x

G’night @Tetters don’t worry, this old house is strong !! I’m only 50 miles from where the storm made landfall. The winds were 140+mph @landfall so, if this house can withstand those winds, only a sinkhole will ever take it down !!
