How rewarding! Looks goodA look at today's harvest. We dug up one potato plant to see what was going on underground. Looks like they could use a little more time but they're doing good. Also harvested the last of our radishes for the year. Our broccoli plants are starting to put off a few florets on the stems so we cut a few of those off. None of those will make it far... probably just a quick cut, rinse, and eat on all those. A few more pickling cucumbers that just got sliced up and put into a bowl of buttermilk. That'll probably be my dinner tonight.

Are those knob onions? Soo good!Harvested our first cabbage. Went ahead and took an onion too and gonna make some cabbage soup tonight. Also a few more squash that we'll fry up on Thursday with some ribs I plan on smoking.

I still have some growing in a HK container...strangely they seem to do very well in containers.Harvested my container of carrots by just picking it up and dumping them out. The container is 14" round by 15" deep. Some are long (7") and some are short (2").
Inspired by @YumYum , I checked my HK container of carrots and found some nice ones. I left a couple dozen in just to see what they will do. The remarkable thing about this is that's it is June 10 and I still have fresh carrots here...that is unprecedented.
I believe (have been advised) that planting carrots higher reduces the problem of carrot fly which can be troublesome.I still have some growing in a HK container...strangely they seem to do very well in containers.
We don't seem to have that pest here on Meadowlark ranch...but if we did, your suggestion would very likely be spot on.I believe (have been advised) that planting carrots higher reduces the problem of carrot fly which can be troublesome.
