Veg Garden Updates

Did you find your caterpillar Annie?

This is all we got from 1,000 parsnip seeds  First off they wouldn't germinate, then when they did come up the slugs ate most of them. The ones that survived then only got an inch and a half of rain all summer.

At least you've got one meal for you both 😁
I read that parsnip seeds lose viability very fast. I want to try growing them next year but, if I do, I intend to let one or two go to seed so that I'm sure the seed is fresh. It may not work out, but you never know until you try !! 😄

Think that's why they put 1000 seeds in each packet. Worth trying you own seed by all means 🙂

I'm gonna try some different methods next year. Start them off on a bit of damp kitchen towel and then put them into cell trays. Got a load of old drain pipes so if I get time I'll plant a load of them in the veg plot and fill them with fine compost, well rotted to stop them forking. Last time I did that I got good results 🙂

Wow, that sun really is low, !! No wonder some people have Seasonal effective disease, ( I think that's what you call it). No need for sunscreen !!🙂

He drives me mad Annie, he talks back to ruddy front all the time here, I could crown him 😖 it has to be glod instead of gold - another mariglod, or peglaronium and I shall be tempted to chuck him out..😮‍💨

I've been taking vitamin D every day for 20 years. I was told by the doctor that suggested it, to take 1000iu a day - normal dose apparently. He also said everyone in Britain should take it.

You guys should all move here to Georgia. Twenty minutes in the sun and, even on a sunny day in the dead of winter, you have your daily dose of vitamin D !! 😄
