The Cactus Thread

@ Zigs would you be so kind as to look at this cacti I have. It was not labeled and was just one little hairy ball when I got it 4 years ago. I take it in in winter (we have wet winters) and have it planted in sand and grit. It gets little pink flowers in summer.

I have no idea what it's called.
I call him "Cousin It " . 😄

He will know Annie, but in the meantime I shall have a guess at Mamillaria bocasana - let's see if I got it right
Mind you, I think ''Cousin It'' is a much better and more apt name :ROFLMAO:

We weren't at all sure on this one, so I checked it out. and it appears to be the seed pod and flower of a red yucca.
1720109217204.webp I think you will hear from Zigs shortly. It's a lovely plant, and I believe, a native to Texas It is both heat and cold hardy, and its right name is Hesperaloe parviflora.

Looking good Zigs and that's a bonus flowering outside.
I have to agree Logan, the cactus are not really 'my thing' but I didn't expect he would achieve a flowering plant that had seen so much cold weather. It wasn't only the snow and frost, but those horrible easterly winds we had as well. That first flower was a bit of a miracle, I thought.

Ta Girls :)

Next thing we'll have a pigeon eating the seeds and spreading it all over Kent, then it'll be declared a noxious weed like it is in Australia and all because no one thought it would survive outside here  😁

As far as we can work out, this Parodia leninghausii is about 100 years old :)
