Cor, that picture reminds me of the time - years ago, when our black and white cat made friends with a black and white magpie, and I saw them walking along that lane together, side by side. I wish I had a camera at the time. The two of them were always together, and seemed very close....

@Zigs Your pheasant photo reminded me of seeing our Wild Turkeys in the road. One time, when I was riding down the dirt road on my Quarter horse, Gage, we had one up the road infront of us. So, we trotted up behind him.
He trotted down the road ahead of us, not really worried until we got too close and then he flew away. My horse wanted to go after him !!
I told him, "No, you're bred to chase cows, not turkeys !!

I can't take credit, I got it off the net !!
My father served and lived for the Royal navy. He joined early by lying about his age. He had what I thought were bluebirds on both of his hands, similar to those in this picture I pinched, but they look more like swallows to me - denoting the nautical miles he had travelled.

This is Derek. I was looking after her for a couple of years after her mum & dad left her behind. She would be waiting for food each morning and would happily sit there while I talked to her (all the other pigeons would fly away as soon as I opened the door.) She's dissapeared now though

Great Crested Flycatcher. Both a male and female. The male is perched in a pear tree and the female is on an old dead stock of a sunflower.
