Weather..

Seems to me that we're all getting more than a fair share of rain at the moment. Maybe we should start building arks, and collect a few animals - male and female of each (cor, aren't I daring for writing that) mumble mumble.....
Wish people would share some rain. Got about half a 5 gallon bucket of rain yesterday.

Might be another Summer of people going around here they have signs for the detour ready. Replacing Bridges in our area.

I've watched my campers doing that over the years. Raincoat and hat and barbecue under an umbrella instead of using the cooker in their van. I thought it was only the English that did this  It's like saying sod it, we WILL have fun even if it makes us miserable and cold ennit. :ROFLMAO:

We only had an inch and a half all last summer. We've now got 4,000 litres of rainwater tanks so we shouldn't run out again 😬
I'm going to have 2 tanks that hold 275 gallons each.

We do have County Water but it has Chlorine in it. My Plants and Worms don't like it.

Right now I'm trying to collect in 5 gallon bikes. Got 8 and we had big rain the other night and I got about an inch in each bucket.

It's getting so bad the river is almost unfloatable which people depend on floating business. They have camping but most come for floating and Trout fishing.

Same with my Cacti, not so much the chlorine but the lime that they don't like. We have a state of the art water filter for drinking. Just changed the ceramic filters in it and they'd gone brown. We're on chalk so they shouldn't be that colour. I suspect they are putting chlorinated sewage in the drinking system. Getting a bit like Soylent Green 😬

My water has lime in it also because at the depth it comes from is a limestone base, but that helps my acid soil to not be quite as acidic as it would be without the addition of the limey water.

I do use rain water but I need to add spigots which I have no confidence in installing so I have to dip into the barrel for that.

Ours should be from Limestone, the chalk that we're on plunges under London and comes out the other side so acts as a great big sump. Trouble is that there has been so much extraction that the water company probably uses river water as well. Recently they've been dumping most of the sewage into the rivers and seas here because they say excess rain has caused the treatment plants to overflow - every week for years even though there has been several droughts :cautious:
