U.K. Growing Season & Latitude

Zigs has just made a new video @Jersey Devil for his coast and country YouTube channel. I will ask him to put it on here for you especially (he won't mind if the others peep) 😁 We live right in the centre of ''the garden of england'' and feel very lucky to be here. I'm sure Zigs will add more! He's talking to his YT people at the moment.

How long is the growing season there across the pond ? Does it freeze in Winter? Snow? I see growing zone is 9. Thats pretty mild. And it probably does not get too hot in Summer. You must have an awesome enviroment for gardening.

Good questions @Jersey Devil :)

We have to start a few things under cover as they need a longer season than our summer. Peppers, tomatoes, leeks and onions spring to mind.

We do get snow and ice, frost starts about now and can carry on till April. Mid May is our "safe" planting outside time but we can still get caught out.

We are way, way North of America latitude wise (apart from Alaska of course 😁)...

we only usually stay ice free because of the North Atlantic Drift though. When that decided to divert round the other side of Greenland in 2010, our harbours froze up

Strangely enough, that wasn't reported on any main stream media at the time as it didn't fit in with their climate change narrative :cautious: Hard to tell folk that the planet is getting too hot when the sea freezes solid.

The start of this video was filmed this morning, the stills at the end are from a previous winter.

I think the winters are getting colder while the summers are getting hotter. They moved my area from 8b to 9a. It feels like 9a in summer but more like 8a in winter !! Confusing, that 😳

Sycamores !!😱 Too difficult to break down those leaves .

We are getting slightly warmer, which is a good thing, we're coming out of the little ice age which was a cold period lasting about 400 years to mid Victorian times where the River Thames regularly froze over and thousands of people died of the cold. Despite all the "hot air" from the climate alarmists we've only actually got 1 point 6 degrees warmer over 80 years. Hardly a cause for panic.
