Weather..

I've been complaining about the unseasonable heat here this fall. Science says I have good reason for complaining: A majority of days in Oct. (18) have reached a high temp above 90 deg f. Looking at three day stretches, four of the hottest three day stretches in history fall into this month (top 10) ...that is in the entire history of weather record keeping. Remarkable. The two warmest days were 99 and 98 deg f respectively...both records all time in October.

The average daily high temperatures so far this month is 90.2 degrees, which is on pace to smash the previous record of 86.5 degrees set in 2016. That is across 135 years of record keeping.

It has really been tough on the fall garden plants, really tough.

No rain here since the hurricane last month and it's in the low 80's to high 60's at night. Not too much, besides my veg has needed regular watering and would have suffered without the rain. Just my Gerber daisies and what I've newly planted has had to be watered so, I'm not complaining !! 😄

We're supposed to get rain today and tomorrow. I hope so since all my plants are reaching out to me with metal cups in their hands.😄

It's been quite overcast and we did get 1/4" rain monday night but we could use a good three inches in one go.

Yep, @Logan, it is very November here as well. We have to put a light on to see where we're going indoors. Never mind it's not too long before spring, and my 5 new roses got planted out yesterday 😃 they all had the same name - ''Secret Smile'' 1730970698488.webp The best rose I have grown in my gardens since I started them. This is so healthy and sturdy in growth, and the flowers are changing in colour as they open. There are six of them out there now - cannot wait until they are all in bloom next summer

I love the color of Secret Smile !! I would love that in a climber. One of my climbers kicked the bucket, which doesn't bother me since it's been a very weak grower since I planted it three years ago. That color with my Jackmanni Clematis !! 😃The

And, still raining.!! Whoot !! We got 4" + rain in the last 24hours and it's predicted to rain off and on all day. 😃

It seems to be a very strong grower, and one of the leaders shot up about 2 - 3 feet. I think it may have a tendency to get quite tall. Zigs said he cut one tall bit off to make cuttings, but noticed another one (or two)? that was going for it as well. I'll keep an eye on it and report back!

The weather has been pretty good here for the last month which is very unusual for October-November. I think it's a north/south British divide which seems to be the wrong way round this year. I can't remember the last time there was any rain to speak of and calm sunny days are set to continue for the next week. Temperature last night was 11C/52F and today 15C/59F.
