I've been complaining about the unseasonable heat here this fall. Science says I have good reason for complaining: A majority of days in Oct. (18) have reached a high temp above 90 deg f. Looking at three day stretches, four of the hottest three day stretches in history fall into this month (top 10) ...that is in the entire history of weather record keeping. Remarkable. The two warmest days were 99 and 98 deg f respectively...both records all time in October.
The average daily high temperatures so far this month is 90.2 degrees, which is on pace to smash the previous record of 86.5 degrees set in 2016. That is across 135 years of record keeping.
It has really been tough on the fall garden plants, really tough.
