U.K. Growing Season & Latitude

I think it must be a different tree to ours, we only have keys over here.

From the new series of Worzel Gummage. Best thing to come out of the bbc before I stopped watching the leftie propaganda channel.
Ah, it wasn't a Sycamore although the American Sychamore does have round spikey nuts.

The tree I got bopped in the noggin with a spikey ball was an American Sweet Gum

Those balls are dangerous !! The spikes are hard as nails !! 😓

Might as well be a bowling ball when it falls from 80 feet !! 🤕

I was walking past a church I was working on when I noticed a few drops of water hitting the ground near the tower. I looked up to see a circular sheet of water heading down towards me at terminal velocity

My instinct made me run and vault over the perimeter fence, I just cleared it when the water hit the ground and flattened all the grass where I had been standing. I looked up to see my mate Andy, 100 feet up on the tower roof, with the empty rain barrel he'd just tipped off the top of the church

I think I've got a pic of the church on a memory stick, I'll have a look for it...

Wow!! So you were a stone mason like the Knight Templars? 😃

I worked alongside the stone masons. I was an Historic Buildings Conservator. I repaired the stuff that was there whereas the stone masons would take out the old stuff that had weathered too far and carve replacements.

I would do things like mortar repairs, pinning stonework that had spalled, cleaning the masonry, removing sulphation (the black stuff you can see on the underside, sheltered bits of limestone buildings) Also shelter coating to stop weathering making the stonework worse.

Apart from that I used to do lime plastering, lath and plaster work, reed ceilings, wattle and daub etc.. Anything to do with ancient and listed buildings. Worked on about 30 churches, monuments, cob cottages, follies, a couple of castles and a Roman City in Turkey :)

This is my team and I in Aphrodisias.
