Although not 100% certain, I think Annie is right with the Dracaena, and the other one looks like a very forlorn umbrella plant (Schefflera) --this is where I got to when I saw @DrCase had come to the rescue thank you for that back up.The first looks like a Dracaena, not sure about the second but @Tetters wll probably know and correct me if it's not a Dracaena
You can also root cutting from it and cut the stalks into 8" pieces and stick half into compost. A bit of rooting hormone on them helps to, and you'll end up with a bunch of them.Thanks everyone. Although it seems harsh @Tetters giving them a good haircut was what I was thinking.
