The seed starting itch 😳

I've got it baaaaad !!

I couldn't help myself !! I got out my perlite, dumped it in my soil mixing waste basket, mixed in miracle grow potting soil and seed starting mix ( about equal values) and filled my pots !!

But, I just couldn't stop there. I got out alllll my seed packets and, I told myself: " I'll just start my Moneymaker and my Longkeeper tomatoes, maybe some Cubanelle peppers. Who was I kidding !!

In went the cherry tomatoes, some Thai basil, and then I said " Stop !! "
Did I listen? You be the judge !!

Every single pot is planted. I have two kinds of Salvia, Globe thistle, Dianthis, Toothache plant, summer and winter squash, and some others I don't recall ATM !!

It's a good thing I live in the deep South. I have my last frost usually the last week of February.

Hanging on a bit longer here, Boxing Day will be the big onion sowing day but most stuff will have to wait. Our usual last frost is second week of May on account of being inside the Arctic Circle

I don't believe what I see this morning !! I planted all these seeds Saturday morning, right ? So, when I turned on the grow lights this morning @6:30 am, guess what I saw !!


Amazing !! Germinarion in 48 hours !! Talk about immediate gratification !!

This is a seedling from the toothache plant Spilanthes acmella. It has the ability, if you chew on the flower head, to numb your mouth enough to relieve a toothache. It looks like this:

Eyeballs !!

Ya'll should grow some. I know they will grow in UK because I saw an episode where someone had them in an allotment. I think I'm going to put mine infront of my red roses. You can also make a tincture from the flowers and I'm going to try that. They say it relieves inflammation, good for stomach ache and colds. I have dry mouth and this tincture swished around in your mouth is said to relieve that. Cool plant, I think

This is fascinating information Annie, I have never heard of this plant before. What a useful piece of knowledge - I'm off to get some more info on getting hold of these, and some more details...........cheers.

I think you will be very pleased with this plant.

It's easy enough to get seeds, but the advice is to sow them in the spring, and grow them in wet places, and possibly for growing indoors. It seems that they can be used effectively for many medicinal purposes, including being an aphrodisiac, skin conditions and even a replacement for botox

Yes, @Tetters, they like wet so I am putting mine in a hole full of pure compost , otherwise I'd need to put them in pots and I have enough in pots as it is !!

OMG !!! What a friggin idiot. I searched endlessly for a "Germinarion" plant but only got "germination this...germination that..." Until I realized you misspelled it and I thought that was the name of the plant. I was too embarrassed to post this until I though... well you deserve the insults you fool !!

Best laugh I've had in a while !! That was a typo. the R is right next to the T and I have arthritis in my ring finger and my "flip-the-bird" finger !!
