@NigelJ do you think sharp sand would do the same job for those in the USA who seem unable to source much aggregate? I imagine, if left out in the weather for a while it would clear out any impurities.

Been repotting looking good.

In the UK horticultural grit and sharp sand is washed to remove impurities; pushes the cost up, but improves the results.
Probably need more sharp sand, but I've never used it; so don't know.
