Ziggy's Cactus Shop. Kent, U.K.. - Leuchtenbergia principis
Leuchtenbergia principis, also known as The Agave Cactus. This one is very fussy when it comes to drainage. I pot them in a pot with a large drainage hole, a few crocks in the bottom and a very gritty well drained mix. I also prop the pot up after watering to let it drain properly. It's not thatwww.ziggyscactus.com

By Monotypic I mean it's the only one in the Genus. So unlike Mammillaria for instance where there are about 250 species, there's only one Leuchtenbergia.

66' tall !! I see a skyscraper Greenhouse in your future !!There's several Monotypic ones, some don't quite fit in with the others so get a genus to themselves. They often get moved about as botanists try to classify them though.
One that springs to mind is Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis. Looks like an Opuntia but lives in the rainforest and grows a straight trunk to compete for light with the other rainforest trees. It grows 66 feet tall
This one that Captain Neem Oil is standing next to has just started to develop a trunk
