Ok now, I've been mulling over what this "gift" for @Tetters could possibly be for four whole days and still have no guess other than some king of new-fangled foot massager.
So, give. What is it already, please ?

This reminds me of what my Grandmother used to say when I,'d ask her what I was getting for my birthday. She'd say: "How do you keep a dummy in suspense?"

I will get Zigs to put an explanatory photo on, but I had a slicing tool for carrots and such like stuff, and I lost the knob thing that stops you getting your fingertips sliced off. I've looked high and low for it, but this home made thingy will do the job just as well

Ohhhh, so you put the carrot securely down onto the screws then you can use your peeler on the exposed sides, right?

No, it's not for peeling - I have a similar peeler to yours, it is for slicing nice thin slices - it is a guillotine slicer!

That's good of Zigs to make that for you @Tetters , I've got a guillotine slicer, but not like that one,i use it to slice oranges for marmalade making.

I think he made it to shut me up for swearing when I couldn't find the original little round handle. It worked!
