Eggplant as a trap plant.

I've only grown eggplants for the past few years but what I have noticed is that the insects that like tomtoes and peppers gravitate towards the eggplants first and seem to prefer them. Anyone else ever noticed this?

I just never could develop a taste for eggplant and so I quit growing it. I may have overlooked any trap plant tendencies, so might be worth a re-visit. Sunflowers remain my favorite trap plant...especially for stink bugs, my least favorite insect.
